CONSTIPATION IN TODDLERS

Severe Constipation is very common problem among we Humans. But if we Young People can get Constipated than we can do something or get remedies to cure Severe Constipation because we understand what had happened to us but when it comes to our Toddlers it is very difficult to face because Toddlers (Child of 12-23 months) cant speak and when they get constipated it is the touch time to face the problem. But the main thing is that how will you come to know that your Toddler is constipated or not. You can come to know if your Toddler is constipated or not if Your toddler is having blood in the stool, fever or vomiting. Immediately call your Doctor or visit the Hospital if the above signs occur in your Toddler. There are many causes which can cause Severe Constipation in Toddlers. Constipation in Toddlers can occur if there is Low fibre intake, Low fluid intake, Low levels of physical activity, A genetic disorder that affects the digestive system, Avoiding or delaying the body’s signal to have a bowel movement, A medical treatment or medication that slows movement in the digestive system etc.

Now You Must want to know what to do to avoid Constipation in Toddlers? So here are some points to remember.

1) Schedule Toilet time which will help manage Constipation in Toddlers. Sometimes it may happen that your toddler may avoid going to toilet which can cause a drier stool, pain, and can be the beginning of long-term constipation. So schedule regular time for toilet which will help managing Constipation in Toddlers.

2) Offer more fluid to help managing Constipation in Toddlers. If your child is not drinking enough fluid, it can lead to constipation. An easy way to tell if your child is drinking enough fluid is to look at the color of his urine. If it is dark yellow, you need to offer fluids more often. Give at least 2 cups (500 ml) of milk, yogurt drinks, or calcium and vitamin D-fortified soy or rice beverages every day.

3) Increase Physical Activity which will help manage Constipation in Toddlers. Daily Physical Activity can decrease constipation in toddlers. Try to add an extra 30 minutes of physical activity to your child’s day. Physical Activity includes walk without a stroller, some music on and dance, take your child outside to play and many other things.

4) Offer more Fibre which will help manage Constipation in Toddlers. Fibre is the part of cereals, breads, and other whole grains, vegetables and fruit, beans, and lentils that our bodies cannot digest. It is important to include fibre from a variety of foods so that your child gets the right amount of vitamins and minerals. A high fibre diet is used to help prevent and treat constipation. Fibre holds water inside the digestive system and helps soften the stool. To increase the fibre in your child’s diet, it is important to include cereal fibre in addition to a variety of fruits and vegetables. Wheat bran and oat bran are the best at helping your child avoid constipation. Try to have your child eat at least 1 tbsp. (15 mL) of cereal fibre 3 times. So you can take this above cares to avoid coming Constipation in Toddlers.
